How does a piece become Editors' Choice?

Modified on Tue, Feb 25, 2025 at 2:40 PM

For large performance ensemble categories such as choir, band, orchestra, jazz ensemble, and marching band, Pepper editors evaluate the music's musical and pedagogical value for publications released each year. They recommend pieces with qualities that can inspire and appropriately challenge students while supporting directors in teaching technique, musicality, and cultural/historical significance. Each performance genre has rubrics for the selection process that include (but are not limited to) points such as concept and execution, attractiveness and appropriateness for the ensemble type, and the publisher's ability to provide inventory to meet the needs of our customers.
